Barbecue and Grill Academy: The Culinary Art and Science
Learn the Art and Science behind grilling and barbecue including direct as well as indirect heat applications such as smoking, roasting, braising, etc. This is a three series course open to the public and hosted by Washington State University Extension to teach you about Barbecue: The Culinary Art and Science. In addition to the series of 3 courses each individual course can be taking independently if you choose. Participants will learn through hands on instruction while having the opportunity to engage with WSU Extension faculty and staff that share the same passion for good food off the grill. Participants will learn about: meat cut location ideal for various cooking applications; spice profiles and aroma; food and drink pairings; types of hardwood smoke; gas vs. charcoal vs. electric grill and smoker applications; how to complete a full meal from tapas and starters to deserts and everything in between on the grill, etc. All items prepared in class as well as some prepared by the instructor(s) before class will be sampled by participants. Join WSU Extension for an educational event that is sure to please the palate in a fun educational environment.
