Friday, January 17, 2020, 2:30 AM

In this fourth Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) lecture in the 2019-2020 series, Dr. John Dobbins, University of Virginia, offers the first AIA talk in a series of four lectures to connect with the Museum's upcoming Pompeii: The Immortal City exhibition (which open early February, 2020). This lecture examines the numerous and different ways in which Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and ancient Roman city near modern day Naples Italy which was buried under volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79, speaks to us in the 21st century about its life in antiquity.
